Transformative Breathwork
You unconsciously take around 20,000 breaths every day. Each breath stimulates your nervous system and thus influences your state of mind, your sense of security, your resilience and your health.
Used consciously, your breath can become a tool with which you can stabilise, regulate and even transform yourself!
Breathwork, the work with the breath, has been known in different cultures and traditions for thousands of years. We know pranayama from yoga, for example.
What is breathwork?
Today, the term Breathwork combines different breathing techniques that pursue different goals. What all techniques have in common, however, is that they all affect the nervous system.
The breath is used to calm or stimulate the nervous system, to experience other states of consciousness or simply to allow the body to be better experienced. There are breathwork techniques that aim to achieve a strong activation (e.g. Wim Hof method) or an altered state of consciousness (e.g. psychedelic breath). There is breathwork to establish a healthy breathing pattern, breathing meditations to promote interoception and transformative breathwork. The latter (especially if it is trauma-sensitive) aims to close stress cycles, gently integrate old unprocessed experiences and make you more stress-resistant for everyday life.
And all this just through your breath.
What do I need to take part in a transformative breathwork session?
Yay, as the whole thing mainly requires you and your breath, you don't need much at all. Ideally, you should have enough time for yourself before and especially after the session. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes that don't restrict you and in which you feel completely at ease.
Come with an inquisitive attitude and give your inner critical voice a break. Transformative breathwork can feel a little crazy. You may even feel a bit daft at first. At the same time, it is scientifically explainable what we do and why it works. The invitation is: give your head a break and allow your body to gently sort itself out and release.

Short introduction
-
A transformative Breathwork session with me lasts a total of 2 hours. After a short arrival and welcome, I explain some basics and interesting facts about the process. Afterwards you can ask me questions and after a short break we start with a 45-60 minute breathing journey.
You breathe lying on your back or stomach with your eyes closed. Ideally on a soft mat with pillows and blankets for support, but ideally not in bed. I will guide the connected breath and support you to get into that state where the breath is absolutely in flow. There will be music playing which will also help you to find the connected breath. If you succeed (and it often takes a while) it feels as if your body takes over this active breathing completely. You are no longer breathing, your body is breathing you.
Finally, I will guide you through a regulating breathing technique. So that you can come back relaxed. There will be time and space for a voluntary sharing circle and I will also give you some tips on how you can organise the follow-up to the Breathwork session.
-
A quiet room that you can close off
Stable internet connection
A laptop or iPad to join the session
Ideally, Bluetooth headphones or a good sound system
A mat (yoga mat, folded blanket, or anything comfortable to lie on)
Pillow(s) for under your head/knees if needed
A blanket to stay warm
Eye mask (optional)
Water to stay hydrated
Notebook & pen to capture your thoughts afterward
Room spray or incense if you enjoy setting the mood

I highly encourage you to be gentle with yourself and take some time over the next 24 hours to slow down and be present. This will help you integrate your experience well and feel positive effects in the long term.
The following can be helpful for good grounding:
Eat something nutritious
Drink a lot (you have excreted a lot of fluid due to the intensive breathing)
Go out into nature
Write, paint, dance, sing, ....
Do gentle movement exercises such as yin yoga or give yourself a self-massage
Take a hot bath
Don't make any big life decisions based on your breathing session for a few days - let your experiences integrate and work on their own
Send me an email if you don't feel fully integrated after the session or if you have any further questions!
